In-Office Procedures
At Manhasset Rheumatology, we provide a range of in-office diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to support comprehensive musculoskeletal care.
All injections and aspirations are performed using sterile technique, and when appropriate, under ultrasound guidance for enhanced accuracy and precision.
Joint Aspiration (Arthrocentesis)
Joint aspiration involves removing fluid from a swollen joint for diagnostic evaluation and symptom relief.
This procedure may be performed to:
- Evaluate joint swelling
- Diagnose gout or pseudogout
- Assess for inflammatory arthritis
- Relieve painful pressure within a joint
When indicated, joint aspiration is performed under ultrasound guidance to improve needle placement accuracy and patient comfort.
Corticosteroid Joint Injections
We offer targeted joint and soft tissue injections to reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
Injection therapy may be helpful for:
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Gout flares
- Bursitis
- Tendonitis
Ultrasound guidance is used when appropriate to ensure precise medication delivery and optimal therapeutic benefit.
Hyaluronic Acid (Gel) Injections for Osteoarthritis
We offer hyaluronic acid injections — commonly referred to as “gel injections” — for selected patients with osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee.
These injections:
- Help lubricate the joint
- May reduce pain and stiffness
- Can improve mobility in appropriate candidates
- May delay the need for more invasive interventions
When indicated, injections are performed under ultrasound guidance to improve placement accuracy and treatment effectiveness.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy – Coming Soon – Ask Us About It
We will soon be offering Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for selected musculoskeletal conditions.
PRP therapy uses components of a patient’s own blood to support tissue healing and may be considered for certain degenerative or inflammatory conditions.
Additional information will be available soon. Ask us about it.
